I lost money trading options.
Not because I didn't study. Not because I didn't backtest. I lost money because backtesting lied to me — kindly, gently, but consistently.
My strategies looked beautiful on historical charts. I knew when to enter, when to exit, when to roll. The numbers added up. So I switched to a real account, ready to apply what I'd learned.
Within months, my budget was gone.
The strategies hadn't changed. I had. On historical data, my brain knew the ending — even when I was sure it didn't. On a real account, every candle was a question I couldn't answer in advance. And the answers came slow, expensive, and emotional.
Paper trading didn't help
So I tried paper trading. Weeks passed. I waited for the market to move. The trades were fine — but they meant nothing. No money, no fear, no learning. Watching live charts felt like watching paint dry.
The insight
Then I heard something on a podcast that I couldn't unhear:
Historical charts are readable. Predictable. The future, on the other hand, is fully random. Nobody knows what tomorrow looks like.
If the future is random — if no one can predict it — then the only honest way to train for it is to simulate it. Not replay history. Not wait for live markets. Generate a future that hasn't happened yet, but could.
The mathematics already existed. Banks and hedge funds had been using stochastic models for decades. What didn't exist was a tool that put those models in the hands of someone learning options trading.
So I built one.
How OptionsSimulator works
OptionsSimulator generates mathematically realistic markets that nobody has ever seen. You trade them with full option chains, real Greeks, and professional analytics — exactly like a real broker platform, but with virtual money and simulated time.
Every chart is new. Every decision is real. Every mistake teaches you something — without costing you anything.
Our principles
Education first. We don't promise profits. We don't sell signals. We teach you how options actually work, with the same mathematics used by professional institutions.
Honesty over hype. We're a simulator, not a crystal ball. Simulated trading isn't real trading — but it's the closest you can get without risking real capital. We're upfront about what this tool does and doesn't do.
Independent and self-funded. OptionsSimulator is built by Thetix Technologies, an independent UK software studio. No VC pressure. No data harvesting. Just a tool we believe traders deserve.
About the company
